How Our Certified Coronavirus Disinfecting Cleaning Process Works

Affordable Cleaning Services is certified in COVID-19 disinfectant cleaning through the National Association of Training and Environmental Consulting. Click their logo below to review our certification.

Our COVID-19 cleaning process uses a hydrostatic sprayer that fogs the area up to 15 ft. Our Iowa City team will complete the following steps to ensure your safety so you can return to your work or home immediately:

  • Quarantine the area immediately!

  • Our team will then put on safety masks and protective suits.

  • The team will spray down the contaminated areas with a hospital-grade EPA certified disinfectant/virucide to kill all known pathogens, viruses, and biohazardous materials with no risk to you, the customer.

  • They will apply the disinfectant using a hydrostatic fogger that fogs the disinfectant up to 15 ft. All surfaces are covered with disinfectant for 10 minutes of dwell time.

  • After 10 minutes, high touchpoints are wiped down with disinfectant. (This will typically be done by our current “in-house” staff using PPE-approved safety gear).

  • After 3 hours the space is usable, although waiting 24 hours would be best.

Pricing depends on total square footage of the area to be disinfected.

Estimates are free.

ABOUT THE CORONAVIRUS:

As we all know, 2020 was a challenging year with the emergence of a new disease referred to as COVID-19. The most recent common ancestor of this virus existed around 10,000 years ago, but this particular virus has not been previously known in humans, according to the CDC. The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal lists other related coronaviruses such as SARS that emerged in 2002 – 2003 and MERS that was found in 2012. However, the tracking of the coronavirus began in 1965 when it was found in cultures from the respiratory tract of an adult with a common cold.

So, what is different about this coronavirus? It appears to be considerably more contagious and has, therefore, been more widespread. It has disrupted lives and businesses worldwide and left the health community scrambling for effective treatments and a vaccination to provide immunity.

Although there is much we still do not know about the disease, we do know that it is spread through droplets from coughing or sneezing.

The virus could also be caused by fomite transmission, which is spread through touching surfaces like doorknobs and hands.

This is where our COVID-19 cleaning services enter the picture. ACS has trained staff to increase cleaning of touchpoints and expanded our services to include proper cleaning of areas that have been contaminated by active coronavirus. Let us help keep your family or your workplace safe.

Simple things YOU can do to help stop the spread of COVID-19:

As the pandemic continues and the virus mutates, we need to do our part to stop the spread. This doesn’t mean that you necessarily need to have professionals come in and disinfect your home or office on a regular basis. Instead, use common sense. Follow the CDC recommendations and guidelines. This means continue to wear a mask when you are in public, preferably one with a minimum of 3 to 5 layers to assure that air is properly filtered. If you are immunocompromised, choose a mask that fits snugly on your nose and do not wear it down under your nose. Remember that social distancing is still important, so avoid hugging or shaking hands with friends and family that you do not live with. If you are sick, stay home.

And for those that wonder what they can do at home or at the office on their own to protect their family and employees, remember these simple tips:

  • Clean your hands often, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • Get vaccinated against COVID-19 when it’s your turn.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces daily.

  • Eat healthy foods and get plenty of rest to keep your immune system strong.

For those times when you have had COVID exposure, be particularly cautious. For passive exposures either in the office or at home, you can do a deeper disinfecting yourself or call ACS to help you out. We are also trained by the National Association of Training and Environmental Consulting to handle cleaning after an active exposure and recommend this for the protection of everyone involved.
